Tashan by Yash Raj has already had a major publicity through the antics played by Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan's. The music has been composed by Vishal-Shekhar, who have the recent success of Om Shanti Om to their credit. Though the music does not fully live up to the hype, it cannot be dispensed as being merely average. All the numbers have been sung well and composed with a spirit. The lyrics too have been penned well, keeping in mind the film's demands.

Dil Haara is a unique mixture of rock and folk. Sukhwinder Singh gives a folkish beginning to the song followed by the sound of rock and has a sufi flavor to it as the 'mukhda' reaches it's peak. Written by Piyush Mishra, Dil Haara has lyrics which are truly different from what one normally expects from a Bollywood love song.

All the four stars Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar and Anil Kapoor have a song to their credit as they talk about what 'Tashan' means to them through Pooja Ka Tashan, Jimmy Ka Tashan, Bachchan Pande Ka Tashan and Bhaiyyaji Ka Tashan respectively. However, this could have been a little longer as the combined duration of each of all four tracks lasts for only about 70 seconds.

Chhaliya too isn't linear as it begins as a melody but later changes course pretty quick with a Western sound imbibed into the proceedings. Chhaliya is written by Anvita Dutt Guptan and has it's rhythm coming from the line - Na Lada Na Lada, Tu Ankh Na Lada which forms the major part of the song.

Dil Dance Maare proves to be a mass entertainer which is the riskiest and most complex song to be created, the main reason for this being, when presented with lyrics like White White Face Dekhe, Dilwa Beating Fast, Sasura Chance Maare Re; O Very Happy In My Heart, Dil Dance Maare Re, it doesn't make a composer's job easy. The lyricist of the song is Vishal Dadlani himself!

While Sukhwinder Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan are in great form, it is great news to hear that Udit Narayan has a major song to his credit after long. The man has given a good show. Vishal goes truly ballistic with lyrics like - Tohre Dil Ke Theater Maan, Dil Deewana Booking Advance Maare Re!

Falak Tak reminds of Chup Chup Ke [Bunty Aur Babli] and Bol Na Halke Halke [Jhoom Barabar Jhoom] when it comes to the romantic genre being explored. It completely turns around the mood of the album. A soothing number which is made special by its singers, especially Udit Narayan, Falak Tak is the only number in Tashan where you get a breather as a listener.

Tashan Mein has a guitar music which forms the initial base of the song. While Vishal and Saleem go about adding on to the haunting appeal of the song, it is only after around a minute that the song catches up pace with the sound of Tashan Mein, Tashan Mein. Tashan Mein is track which should come as a background piece at regular intervals in the film's narrative.

All the numbers in Tashan are unique in their own way and get on to you quickly and make you play them repeatedly. There is no dullness in the songs at any point of time. The songs Dil Dance Maare, Dil Haara and Falak Tak stand out with a difference.
